This is a plug-in charger ā it requires an existing NEMA 14-50 outlet (the same type used by electric dryers and ranges). In plug-in mode, output defaults to 40A per NEC code. On a NEMA 14-50 outlet, set this EV charger to 40A. The full 48A requires hardwiring on a 60A circuit. If you already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet in your garage ā the same outlet used for electric dryers ā this is a true plug-and-charge setup with no electrician required.
