When we got our Tesla, we charged at public stations. The charging itself did not take long. Remembering to do it did.
We planned errands around open plugs. If one of us had a long drive for work, that meant charging there or stopping on the way home. What started as a minor annoyance kept growing.
We did have the plug in cord that came with the car. On a regular outlet, it took forever, and it never really fit our day.
Then the promotional free charging from Tesla ran out after about three months, and we started paying for every stop. That adds up fast, because charging at home usually costs less than paying at a public charger. With solar on our roof, it was even better. A home EV charger was the obvious answer.
And still we put it off. It looked like an annoying process with a lot of research. We were not sure our panel could handle it. We did not know what hidden costs or fees were waiting. Which EV charger? Who installs it? Who pulls the permit?
Getting home charging should be one step, not a project.
This is the step that solved it for us. One quote that does it all, with no commitment and no cost, from the comfort of your home using just your phone.
Which EV charger should I get?
40 amps or 48 amps? Plug in or hardwired?
Can my panel handle it, or does it need an upgrade?
Who installs it, and who handles the permit?
What is this actually going to cost?
Most people try to answer these one at a time, in the wrong order. They buy an EV charger online, then find out it does not fit their panel, or that the install costs more than the EV charger. The quote answers all of them at once, for your home and your EV.
You may already have a brand in mind. Maybe it matches your car, or a friend swears by theirs. That part is your call.
The specs are a different story. How many amps, what size circuit, plug in or hardwired, and where it mounts should come from your home and how you drive, not from a product page. Two homes with the same EV can need two very different setups. Here is what decides it:

So the smart first step is not shopping specs. It is finding out what your home can support, then choosing the brand you like in the version that fits.
This is the part most people do not expect. You do not need an electrician in your basement to find out what your home needs.
Treehouse tells you exactly which photos to take, shot by shot. Your electrical panel, your main breaker, the spot where you park, and the path in between. They walk you through every shot they need to build a full, accurate quote, so nothing gets missed and nothing gets guessed.
From those photos, they size your panel, check whether it can carry an EV charger, plan the wiring route, and price the whole job. Prefer to show it live? Do a free video walkthrough instead.
A few photos from your phone. A complete quote back. That is the whole site visit.

Backwards. Your home decides which specs make sense, so the quote comes first. You get an EV charger recommendation matched to your home and your EV, and you can bundle it right into the install. Already bought one? The quote covers that too.
Public charging is the expensive habit. And you do not have to guess, or wait for someone to come out, to find out the real number. Send a few photos from your phone and get a full price breakdown, free, with no deposit. Pay over time options are available, and rebates and incentives you may qualify for are listed right in your quote.

You can. Some installers carry a few EV chargers as a courtesy, but not a real selection matched to your home. Some include the permit in their price and some leave it to you, and figuring out which is one more step when you line quotes up side by side. One complete quote, with the EV charger, permits, materials, labor, and any upgrades included, is easier to say yes or no to.
A new 240V circuit usually needs a permit and an inspection. Some electricians pull it for you and some do not, and you have to ask. Here, the permit paperwork, the inspection, and the scheduling are all handled for you. You do not call the town once.
Installation is handled by Treehouse, a national company that specializes in home EV charging, with thousands of installations completed by licensed, insured electricians. Treehouse is a certified installer for Tesla, Ford, GM Energy, Rivian, Toyota, and Lexus, and works with CarMax and ChargePoint.
One thing to know before you pick a brand: the plug. Tesla uses the NACS connector, and a growing number of automakers are moving to it. Many EVs still use J1772. Your quote matches the EV charger connector to your car, so you are not stuck living with an adapter.

Treehouse is a Tesla certified installer. Per Tesla's installation manual, the Wall Connector delivers its full 48 amps (11.5 kW) on a 60 amp breaker, and less on a smaller breaker, for example 40 amps on a 50 amp breaker. Which one your home gets depends on what your panel can support, and that is exactly what the quote works out.
Model Y, Model 3, Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and any NACS home charger.
Rivian lists Treehouse as one of its preferred installation partners for the Rivian Wall Charger. The Wall Charger runs at up to 48 amps (11.5 kW) and comes in NACS and J1772 versions, so a licensed install sized to your panel matters.

For the full 48 amps, Tesla specifies a 60 amp breaker. Smaller breakers work at lower output, for example 40 amps on a 50 amp breaker. Your quote sizes it to what your panel can support.
Often, yes, with limits. Most dryer outlets are on a 30 amp circuit, which can supply about 24 amps of EV charging, because EV charging is a continuous load sized at 125 percent. You can't run the dryer and the EV charger at the same time, and older 3 prong NEMA 10-30 dryer outlets have no ground. Your quote shows whether a dedicated EV circuit makes more sense for your panel.
Put it where the cable reaches your charge port without crossing a walkway, and as close to the panel as practical, since distance from the panel is one of the biggest cost drivers. Outdoors works if the EV charger is rated for it. Your quote's installation plan shows exactly where it goes.
A new 240V circuit usually needs a permit and an inspection. Treehouse handles the permit paperwork, the inspection, and the scheduling for you.
A Level 2 EV charger runs on a dedicated 240V circuit. That is licensed electrician work, and it is what the permit and inspection check.
The timeline depends on your town's permit. Once it is approved and the electrician is on site, the install itself typically takes about 2 hours.
No. The federal EV charger credit (Section 30C) covered equipment placed in service through June 30, 2026. Utility and state incentives may still apply, and your quote lists the ones you may be eligible for.
