Growatt 12kW Split Phase Off-Grid Inverter | SPF 12000T DVM-US | UL 1741
⚠ Before You Buy
This is an off-grid inverter — it cannot export to or draw from the utility grid. It is not suitable for grid-tied homes without significant rewiring. Confirm your application before ordering.
Running a full off-grid home on 120V-only power means half your appliances won't work — no standard electric range, no well pump, no central HVAC, no 240V EV charger. The SPF 12000T DVM-US solves that with true 48V split-phase 120/240V output, which means your off-grid home runs on the same electrical standard as every other house in America. Your panel, your appliances, your electrician's wiring knowledge — all compatible.
At 12kW continuous output, it handles the full load profile of a serious off-grid homestead: well pump startup surge, HVAC, workshop tools, kitchen appliances, and EV charging running simultaneously without browning out. Dual MPPT trackers let you optimize two separate string configurations independently — useful on properties with panels on multiple structures or orientations.
Generator input is built in, which matters for off-grid winter months when solar production drops and battery reserves need backup charging. This is a purpose-built off-grid unit — not a hybrid, not grid-interactive. If you're designing a full off-grid homestead and want to size the battery bank and solar array correctly, use our Build Your System guide before ordering.

Why do I need split-phase 120/240V for an off-grid home?
Most US homes are wired for split-phase 120/240V service. Large appliances — electric ranges, dryers, well pumps, central HVAC, EV chargers — require 240V. A 120V-only off-grid inverter means those appliances simply won't run. The SPF 12000T's split-phase output lets your off-grid home use standard US wiring and appliances without modification.
How large a battery bank does a 12kW off-grid inverter need?
It depends on your daily load and how many hours of autonomy you want. A rough starting point: if your home uses 30–40kWh per day and you want 1–2 days of autonomy, you need 30–80kWh of usable battery capacity. Use our Build Your System guide to calculate your specific requirements.
Can this be used with a generator as the primary backup?
Yes — the built-in generator input allows the inverter to accept AC power from a generator to charge batteries and power loads when solar production is insufficient. This is a common off-grid configuration for winter months or extended cloudy periods.
Is this suitable for a new off-grid construction or a cabin retrofit?
Both. New off-grid construction can be wired around the split-phase output from the start. Existing cabins with 120V wiring can run on one leg of the split-phase output while 240V circuits are added as needed.
