The Classic 150 is the charge controller that ships pre-wired with the Rosie + Classic 150 kit — and the one MidNite Solar installers have been specifying for off-grid systems for over two decades. The reason it keeps showing up is simple: 150V VOC input handles standard residential string configurations, 12–72V battery compatibility covers virtually every off-grid battery bank, and Canbus communication with the MidNite Rosie inverter gives you an integrated system with a single monitoring interface instead of two separate data streams.
Support for solar, wind, and micro-hydro from a single controller is practical for remote properties where the power source isn't purely solar. The 96A output at 48V translates to approximately 4.6kW of charging power — well-matched to the array sizes common in Rosie-based off-grid systems.

When should I choose the Classic 150 vs. the Classic 250?
The Classic 150 handles up to 150V VOC with 96A output at 48V. The Classic 250 handles up to 250V VOC with 63A output. If your string Voc at minimum temperature exceeds 150V, the Classic 250 is required. If your array stays within 150V, the Classic 150 provides more output current.
Does it work with non-MidNite inverters?
Yes — the Classic 150 functions independently with any inverter. Canbus system integration is specific to MidNite's Rosie ecosystem; with other inverters, each component operates and monitors independently.
What is the max charging power at 48V?
96A × 48V = approximately 4,608W of charging power. Size your PV array to deliver that input under your local peak sun hours.
Can it charge from a wind turbine or micro-hydro?
Yes — the Classic 150 supports wind and micro-hydro input in addition to solar PV. Confirm your source's voltage and current output is within the controller's specifications before connecting.

Returns & warranty
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused and in original packaging. A 25% restocking fee applies to all returns.
